I introduced you to this museum mind first back in August. Talented Philly based artist Ivben Taqiy has taken his art from the canvas to a tee shirt near you . Ivben's eponymous line Ivben 1908 is bringing wearable artwork to a body near you. His canvas work on your tee shirt. . I'm trying get mines ASAP, I suggest you do the same.
HH:What role has art played in your life up, to this point?
IT: Art has been my best friend and companion all my life. It was and still is my form of expressing myself, and today that form of expression has turned into several business’s that I own , that supports
my family.
HH:Whose work do you admire? Do you see any of their influence in your work?
IT: I admire several artist like: Michel Basquiat, Picasso, Andy Warhol, the list can go on and on.
They all have inspired me when I’m creating.
HH: What is your favorite medium to work with?
IT: I use them all: Oil, acrylic, water colors, spray cans, markers etc…. I will create with whatever medium that will bring my vision to life on a canvas.
HH: What led you from the canvas to the sketchpad? Does your artwork influence your designs? Tell us about your clothing line?
IT: My clothing line is Ivben 1908, and I was inspired to do a clothing line from creating my paintings. I would finish a painting and look at it and say “ that would be dope if it was on a T-shirt, hat, or a pair of jeans.
HH:Best advice you’ve ever received about following your dream?
IT: A good mentor of mine told me to always believe in myself and what I create, no matter how outside of the box it may seem to society. Because people that think outside of the box ultimately have genius ideas. Example( television, computers, cell phone, face book) all the inventors of these things live their life thinking outside of the box.
