  • What makes a picture compelling? I would like to think it's the love and attention paid to the details of a photograph. The lighting, angles, and subject matter of the image all play a part in how it comes across to your eye. I've said it many times, passion speaks to me, be it though art, photography, a business plan. Bob Packert's passion caught my eye via my handy tweet feed. His website produced more of his work and personality through various fashion and lifestyle shoots. In my opinion, those walking this earth to fulfill a purpose radiate a charismatic energy that is contagious to anyone else in a similar journey. So, for all of you who can relate to his words, enjoy.

HH:When did you fall in love with Photography? Where has your career taken you over the years?
    BP:
I actually fell in love with photography while in high school. I would pour over mostly fashion magazines studying the lighting and composition. I really didn't pick up a camera until college.

I would love to travel more for fashion shoots. I have traveled to a few tropical locations for shoots, both to St. John's and more recently the Dominican Republic.

HH: In your opinion, what makes for a great photograph? Do you have any signature techniques?
    BP:
I don't think that there are any hard fast rules as to what makes a great photograph. Things I like in a photo are a good composition, great lighting and something that evokes a mood or tells a story. As for signature techniques, I try to keep things simple and clean.

HH: Your work goes in many directions. Why is Fashion photography your favorite?
    BP:
Shooting fashion has always been a favorite of mine. I grew up admiring the work of photographers like Annie Liebovitz, Sarah Moon, Helmut Newton, Steven Meisel among others.

HH:What are you working on currently ? Any future events or shows you want readers to be aware of ?
    BP:
I am currently working on a few different projects –

    * a fashion shoot for a hair client featuring Elizabethan period wardrobe and lingerie,

    * a Spring fashion editorial coming up, shooting under water in West Palm Beach,

    * and a personal book project called "Creative Women", featuring portraits and video interviews of artistic women from all fields.

HH:What does passion mean to you, and how do you display it in your work?
    BP:
Passion to me means something that is in your blood, something you crave and can't get enough of, something you think about day and night. I hope that the passion shows when someone looks at one of my photographs.
