Good morning loves! We are already back at another Monday. This weekend I thought about the importance of a photograph. Being able to catch memories for a lifetime is a pretty powerful craft. This week, I want to spend some time with my  camera and get to capturing some important people, places, and things.

It's work by  visual artists like  Shavon Meyers that get me inspired. Individuals that are able to tell a story through visual elements without the use of words. What a talent to have!  Take a few minutes to get to know Shavon and her passion for visual storytelling. She may just have you out taking some QT (quality time) with your own camera. Which camera's do my photographers out there like to use and why?

HH: Define visual artist. When you look through your camera lens, what do you see?
    SM:
My definition of a visual artist is someone who can create a piece and tell stories using elements that are attractive to the eye, one's vision. That can be anything from a photograph, to a video, a piece of art, even poetry and dance. A visual artist creates pieces and tells stories using vision as the medium.

    HH:What makes for a good photograph/video?
    SM:
A good photograph or video tells a story and draws you in. A good photograph/video will evoke emotion and make the viewer question. I also think a good photograph or video is one that will inspire the viewer.

    HH:Camera of Choice?
    SM:
I have a few cameras but right now my camera of choice is my Canon T3i/600D aka "Nina".

    HH:Upcoming projects?
    SM:
Yes! Tons and they can all be seen on my "Upcoming Projects" page: http://shavonmeyers.com/upcoming-projects/

I just launched a new online exhibit called "The Weekend" in which I spend a weekend with a subject and tell their story through my photographs: http://shavonmeyers.com/the-weekend/
"HERstory" is a documentary about my great grandmother who recently passed told through the 3 generations that followed her. I am also working on my second book of poetry QuietStorm Vol. 2 which will include my poetry as well as photography and I am in the process of developing an Arts Collective here in NYC. I have a TON of other ideas and projects that I'm working on but I don't like to say too much about things until they are almost complete.

    HH:Favorite quote.
    SM:
That's hard because I don't have one favorite anything but a saying that I've been living by for a few years now is "Don't talk about it, be about it." It can apply to every aspect of life and motivates me to put things into action. I'm also a pretty positive person so "Be positive" is another simple but highly effective a saying that I admire.
