Poetic Memoirs:Corner Stores

I've never believed in the power of "flow" until here lately. I read the book The Power of Flow by  Charlene Belitz and Meg Lundstrom, a few years ago during one of my phases of self reflection and growth.  I was intrigued with the idea  of thoughts dictating present and future circumstances. I'm going off on a tangent but all of this serves as explanation for why I feel poetry keeps popping up in my life. 

On my usual  trip home with the manfriend, while making our way through Penn Station, we passed a man selling books. His aura screamed poet. My guy peeped my interest and suggested we get a book. After a brief chat about his previous works  and his newer ones,  we made one copy of Corner Stores In the Middle of the Block by Brad Bathgate ours. My boyfriend is awesome; he always lets me read his ears off. Over pizza and a movie we flipped through page after page of this poetic memoir. Facts dripping with 'I lived it' attitude can be heard when reading his poems aloud. A writer who keeps it real, a perspective worth reading.Corner Stores set the tone for my week.
