I looked up last night, from a table full of soap bases, herbs, and oils and thought to myself, I really love this. So much so it will become my business ( literally) by the end of the summer. Aside from the joy I receive while researching or experimenting with recipes, it is the number of people I have come in contact with that share the eczema struggle. Like myself, they have been prescribed steroids and have been left frustrated; this fuels my fire when creating.
A lot of individuals have reached out to me about a soap to help soothe the always inconvenient flare up. I suggest the first soap recipe I ever tried, a re-batched method from the Remedies For Skin Blog, which is super simple to make and for me and a few others has been pretty effective. I am all about sharing knowledge to help others in similar circumstances so below I have listed the recipe for those at home to make themselves. You need three ingredients that most of you have lying around the house as we speak. OK, lets get started
You will need:
- 1 Dove Bar of Soap ( I use the plain white or you could use the unscented one)
-4 tablespoons of Oatmeal
-5 tablespoons of water
What to do:
1. Start by using a grater (like you shred cheese with ) to shred your Dover bar. Grate the entire bar, into a microwave friendly bowl.
2. Add water and microwave for about 2 minutes. Microwave the soap in 30 sec intervals.
3. Once melted, mix in your oatmeal
4. Pour the mixture into a soap mold ( you can find them for a couple dollars at A.C. Moore or any craft shop or on Amazon)
5. Put in the refrigerator overnight or until ready to use.
The result will be a softer bar of soap, that feels amazing. Give it a try; see how your skin reacts and let me know. In the meantime I will be researching all I can to make a few more remedies.
