Has anyone noticed the summer is flying by?
I had to go on a short hiatus last week to restore my mind and spirit. I was feeling a little uninspired and in search of a new direction and new content for my beloved Haute Hemisphere readers. The week provided me with ample inspiration through various channels, mainly art and the outdoors. So it is only right I start my week with the very artist whose work pushed me to take a break and enjoy my surroundings.
Atlanta bred, Shanequa Gay's artwork takes me back to the South. The history, the unity and the charisma of the people can be felt through her paintings. Her work wakes the southern bell I acquired during my six year stay in the cozy town of Greensboro. Browsing through her gallery on The Black Art Depot made me smile, and reflect on the peace, people and pastures. I hope this eases you into your workweek and takes your mind somewhere soothing, like the sweet , sweet South. Can't get enough of her.

It has been about a year since I traveled back to N.C. to visit. I'll admit I took it for granted sometimes when I was there, but now that am I am back fully immersed in New Jersey, I miss the southern sky, the sweet people, and the access to beautiful nature at all times.
