  • Beauty comes in every shape color and size, which is why I love searching the world for indie talent and beauty to bring to you. My biggest love in fashion lies with African designers. Before attending AFWNY last July, I would spend my evenings searching the world/web for prints and colors associated with the African designer community. After attending, I check their facebook at least three times a week! When asked who my favorite designer is I'm likely to say Maki Oh before Marc Jacobs. It's not that he isn't amazing. For me, it's more about the culture and models that represents the shade I see in the mirror every day.

Where a shade of brown can sometimes be foreign in a couture fashion show model lineup, I seek out the designers that incorporate all colors. How can you steal silhouettes and aesthetics from a culture and not represent them on the runway . . . but those thoughts are for another day.

My mother took my brother and I to Montreal when we were younger and I have never forgot how beautiful it was, reason enough for me to stalk the fashion in the area. How delighted I was when I came across their May 16-17 Black fashion week. Although I still don't understand nor feel it's necessary to add Black in front of the event name, I was delighted with the beautiful collections shown. Super sad I just missed it and hope I can attend in person for one of the next ones.

One of my favorite designers AdamaParis was present and as always did not disappoint those with an inner goddess/flower child attracting them to chiffons and silky textures. Check out her collection and let her designs bring beauty into your day. Great inspiration for a Memorial Day beach look ;-) . Keep creating beauty AdamaParis.
