Weekend Recap: SJ Fashion Weekend

South Jersey held it down Saturday night.

South Jersey Fashion Weekend 2014 was a huge success! An evening dedicated to local vendors, passionate designers, and a supportively stylish audience. Arriving with a little time to spend in the VIP fashion lounge, I mingled amongst a fantastic group of Philly/SJ bloggers you may know as Bite My Heath Bar, Style and Poise, and Skinny Minority. Lots of smiles, giggles, and fashion chatting took place as we waited for the collections to start.

We were called to our seats promptly at 7:00 pm and we were welcomed with a heartfelt opening speech by SJ Fashion Weekend executive producer Kat Quarterman. I was left excited to see the collections and aware of the statistics around colon cancer and why I should encourage myself and others to get screened. In remembrance of love ones' lost to colon cancer- family members marched the runway prior to the show's starting.

A variety of shapes and sizes graced the runway showcasing designs by local talent Hustling Spirit, Burlington County Institute of Technology, Wrapsody, D.A.W. Fashion Design Inc, Marle Fashions and my favorite show, hands down, was by mother and daughter duo- Spark Era. Their collection was centered around gold and royalty-my favorite type of inspiration. Their crop tops and skirts made my heart skip. I will have to add one of their pieces to my ever growing InD wardrobe.

The beautiful tented venue was perfect for capturing each brilliant collection, mingling amidst the local vendors and spreading awareness about colorectal colon cancer. Hats off to Kat Quarterman and the whole South Jersey Fashion Weekend team. I look forward to next year.
