HH: Your mother was a model and dad was a photographer, how do you think their careers influenced your personal passions?
JD: My parents' past has definitely been an essential influence in my life. I never thought of my dad as the creative type, but after seeing his work it's helped me appreciate things from someone else's lens. My mother always carried herself with class and always had great style. The root of my style inspiration comes from her and my grandmother for sure!
HH: What does your style tell the world about you?
JD: If I could describe my style it would be Classy, Vintage, Tribal Inspired, Floral Obsessed and Virgo-esque. I love being innovative and taking risks with my wardrobe! We are all beautiful and special in our own way, so why not show off what makes us unique? I believe that style begins from within. You don’t have to look a certain way or wear a certain brand; your style is your personality. I try to paint visions so that anyone can establish a great wardrobe based on who you are as an individual. I love giving people a boost of self-confidence, a lending ear and helping hand to ignite their style creativity to ultimately invent a new trend, YOU!
HH:What are your favorite Spring trends? Are you looking forward to certain summer pieces?
JD: There's no trend in specific. I like to experiment with everything whether is currently trending or a trend from many seasons ago. Currently I am in love with Prints Prints Prints!( tribal, floral, stripes, polka dots) Gladiator Sandals, Neon pieces, Sheer pieces, Crop Tops and Pencil Skirts, All White Looks, Cool Flats and Statement Sunglasses, Geometric Looks, Lace dresses and Maxi skirts, I could go on forever!
HH:You make gorgeous floral halos! Tell us more of what led you to start creating.
JD: I have a floral obsession. I incorporate something floral in everything. I think it’s the Virgo side of me. In my opinion flowers are the perfect compliment to my personal style and I can wear my floral accessories with practically anything! I originally had the idea to make them for myself, but one of my friends thought it would be a great idea to accessorize his collection with my halos and floral accessories at his fall fashion show in October 2012. It turned out that a lot of people loved them and tried to buy them off of me that day! It was really exciting and I just loved how so many people were so interested. I feel like it expresses a part of who I am, and to be able to share that with others is awesome!
HH:You style, you create and you blog!Tell us about your blog and where we can check it out.
JD: My blog has a bit of everything! Motivational messages, my favorite trends and style icons, my personal style as well as wardrobe tips and style advice for those in need.
Check it out! JenaiDominique.tumblr.com
HH:Looking at a bigger picture, where do you hope to grow your brand in the future?
JD: I am definitely planning on moving to California very soon!
HH:Anything else you want to add ?
JD: Stay tuned to for more to come with my blog! I've got a lot of things planned! In addition, a full shopping website with exciting handmade accessories and exclusive vintage finds!
