  • Now that we are settled, it’s time to start making these four walls a home.

For the last year, I have been playing with the idea of going back to school for Interior Decorating. After a six year college stint for a fashion degree, I am not looking to dive into anymore debt. So, I'm looking to obtain a certificate from one of the schools in Philadelphia. My initial goal was to be back in school by January of this year, but life has a way of telling you, “it’s not your time yet.” My goal is to pay out of pocket for the whole certificate program, by January 2015, mark my words dears, the ball will be rolling.

My interior design dream involves bringing positive energy, and design to those seeking an artistic appeal to their dwellings. Our new apartment is the perfect place to start. Figuring I might as well practice my visions, I can tweak and try different things.

Our four walls have so much potential! I have been enjoying taking my time searching for just the right DIY's, furniture, and interior design blogs to help me put together the home I dream of for us.

In college, the basic theme taught for fashion majors, both design and merchandising, was to pay attention to details. The big picture in interior decorating, as well as fashion, is simply the combination of the small details. I want our home to tell a beautiful Afrocentric Bohemian tale, communicated through art and unique accents.

Clearly, the styling gods' want the same for us, as they led me right to an awesome Philadelphia based lifestyle goods company, Morihata

I'm fascinated by the innovative Japanese design and range of products. For those that don't know - I am a hugeee tea fanatic, I can't get enough of it, and love to have tea parties so I can pull out the fancy tea set. Morihata has it all; bath and beauty products, home-wares, and even TEA accessories. To sum it up, I was in design heaven. The company's use of traditional and contemporary Japanese design aesthetics is quite appealing to a wander lusting spirit such as myself. I can't wait to stock up on the Karmi tea canisters. All my home decorating hunnies, you are going to love this brand. Check out the online store today and let me know your favorites. Nothing like a little home shopping to brighten up a rainy day.

I'm going to school for Interior Design and I love it! If it is something you enjoy doing, why not! Just an FYI, anyone can call themselves an Interior Decorator, so if you wanted to shop the field, you wouldn't have to spend any money and do that. In order to call yourself a interior designer, you would need special schooling.
