As a writer, I look for reading material with a strong "voice". That could also be said for my love for fashion, because I look for similar qualities. An author to a book as a designer to a dress, both are visionaries telling a story, just with the use of different mediums. I admire a writer that can paint an image with words as much as I do a creator telling a story through thread, fabric and trim. Creativity is extraordinary isn't it? Well, back in January, I made a resolution to branch out and subscribe to indie publications for print magazines instead of my usual Harper's Bazaar and Vogue that I found myself becoming a wee bit bored with.(Still love them though!) I've previously shared my love for ARISE and my latest treasure is DISFUNKSHION Magazine .
Created to reach the deepest fiber of every young woman, DISFUNKSHION Magazine prides itself on providing real life content. "Disfunkshion is the magazine that motivates young women to proudly be themselves in this identity seeking society."That's a major statement and a commendable mission. I had to be apart of supporting the cause. Did I mention the fashion seen on the pages make this glossi like the Mecca of Bohemia? Yeaah . . . Click here to order yours! This is my recent obsession, but I'm always looking for more. What indie magazine's are in your bag? Let me know in the comments below.
