Cropped With Culture: LLulo

Culture plays a major part in fashion,in my opinion. Designers  are often inspired in some way by their heritage and significant events within their community. For example, I grew up in a household where mom was Queen and dad was King and we celebrated Kwanzaa. Beautiful tapestries and paintings of jazz musicians and African art resides on the interior walls of my home, thus I am attracted to the same elements in my style.

This is why I'm  feeling Michelle  Olomojobi's line Llulo. With her middle name as the brand she puts her all into every creation, as it is apart of her.Cute cropped tees and hoodies proudly display the motherland across the chest. Llulo's tops are awesome with a pair of skinnes or a maxi skirt. Culture never goes out of style, get you one. Wanna take me up on that last sentence, read below.

HH: What is your personal definition of a fashion designer?
MO:My personal definition of a fashion designer is an individual who creates. Honestly, I do not consider myself a fashion designer. It is still so weird to be called a designer.

HH: How did you stumble upon your talent to create? What pushed you to build a brand?
MO:I have always been a creative person. Luckily, my mom fed my creative hunger. At one point, I told her I wanted to be a music producer and that I needed singing lessons. She enrolled me in singing lessons within the next week. Building a brand was the only thing I could see myself doing. I wanted to make sure I created an outlet for myself in this already stressful world.

HH: What does LLULO represent?
MO:LLULO represents me. It is apart of my name. So, anything that I do for LLULO, I’m doing so people can know who I really am.

HH: What are your favorite brands to rock this season?(other than LLULO of course )
MO:I am actually a huge fan of the Urban outfitter’s brand. For some reason, I’ve gotten so many items from there within this past month.

HH: What goals do you have for your business in the next few months?
MO:I honestly just love seeing growth. I just want to grow and continue meeting great creative individuals from around the world.

HH: Two sentences of encouragement to those of indie nation community.
MO:1. NEVER give up.
