I find when summer is in full effect, people tend to struggle with what to put on. Understandable, the heat can sometimes have us super lazy in life and fashion. Like my mom use to say, 'someone is always watching .' It is important, especially if representing a personal brand or business, to always look put together. You never know when that walk on a hot day may turn into a potenital business deal. I've had it happen a few times. With that being said, I bring you Alexandra Garrett, an awesome DC stylist. She is here to inspire summer power pieces, for the creative haute hustlers that are brand building in this heat. -Taila-

For the summer, I like to keep my must-have list short and sweet. These must-haves are simple and easy to grab, even if you have to check out your local mall or thrift store. Here are my top must-haves that I will be rocking for the summer:
1. The peplum trend has been around for a few seasons and I still love the ways the peplum trend can be worn. When pairing a bold colored peplum top, try pairing it with a dark colored bottom to add balance to a night on the town look. (Peplum Top: Ebay.com Bondycon Dress: Ebay.com)
2. Animal print is my favorite print of all! Animal print plays off the inner wild side of a woman. If you are not a fan of animal print in your clothing, try using animal print in your accessories and shoes for the summer. (Clutch: Mobile Boutique Leopard Print Pumps: DSW)
3. For some Spring/Summer 2013 collections, the runways were filled with transparent tops and looks from designers such as Emilio Pucci, Victoria Beckham and Chanel. Whether you are dressing it up or down, transparent pieces adds the right amount of sex-appeal to any look you put together. Try to stick to solid colors when wearing transparent pieces, it adds character to your looks and it is easier to keep for later seasons. 4. Tribal print is eccentric and original! This trend is on every article of clothing from shirts, skirts, and jump suits. You can find any color or pattern that suits any style personality out there. So, have fun with this trend and let style personality shine. Remember, there is no particular look or style to have when it comes to trends, just remember to stick to who you are in your clothing choices and let your fashion do the talking.
