Soulful Strokes: John Holyfield

Taking a break from all the fashion shows going on currently, I found myself in the mood for some inspiration from one of my favorite sources, black art. John Holyfield creates artwork which contains emotion, his favorite subject matter being rural life . His pieces convey simple moments found in so many of our lives. His paintings capture the most important memories of life. Perhaps, I am so drawn to his work because he is richly inspired by his grandmothers, two people I also consider central to my development as a young woman. Other influencers of Holyfield's work are music, spirituality and the family household  . My family is my strength and I have so many moments I pray I never forget , looking at Holyfield's work helps me keep the picture alive.

Inspiration Station: Jalouse Magazine

I'm hooked on French fashion magazine Jalouse's  Dec '12/ Jan 13' editorials. The cover shoot with M.I.A. made my heart skip , she looks amazing and her accessories. . breathtaking. A shorter spread entitled  'Diktat Mode' was just as brilliant and bold . Jalouse has wiggled it's way into my heart and  global magazine subscription list.

Editorial Ave : Neef Fresh Photography

For starters, she's a Capricorn, and I follow her on twitter. Personally, I could look at her portfolio all day, she brings a new dimension to photography. Hands down a Queen of the camera with a speciality in fashion, beauty and lifestyle shoots. Her work is sick, backdrops are dope and her earned cockiness is admirable. This Brooklyn babe, has an eye for all things Fresh and will travel the world to find it . I dig her whole vibe and respect her talent, Neef Fresh , does her thing .
 End of story.

Editorial AVE : Emma Summerton

I fell in love with photographer Emma Summerton's work  after coming across her Wild One's spread in this month's W magazine.  Styled by Giovanna Battaglia, who has an impeccable eye for mixing prints and bold hues, this editorial screams sophisticated bohemia, my favorite style subculture might I add. After Wild One's I was hooked, I've included a few shots from her other spreads , mainly Feminine Mystique . She is amazing and worthy of being showcased , do enjoy !

PFW FAVS: Manish Arora

I am so impressed with Mumbai-born Manish Arora. His 2013 collection shown during Paris Fashion week was stunning. As I am one for body adornments in rich metals and shapes, his collection was one I spent more than a few minutes reviewing. Inspiration for the show was derived from native Indian dress and jewelry. With more holidays and parties around the corner, festive looks are dancing around my head. Manish Arora's use of psychedelic patterns, rich textures, and bold accents have given me life for the week .

Stories of Street Art: Julien "Seth" Malland

I never really understood why people don't care for graffiti/street art. Personally, I find it to be an extension traditional art. The past few days I have been Netflixing it up on graffiti documentaries and have been so inspired. There is such a rich history of those involved in the semi secret  artistic community. Julien Seth Malland a french native, is known across the globe as "globe-painter". This visionary artist ventures around the world finding walls  to use as his canvas. He brings beauty to every street he leaves his signature paintings on . I am amazed and inspired by his work , and I hope you will be too.

PRINT PARTY : Stella Jean

Stella Jean is one of my favorite brands. Her prints choices, styling and gorgeous models always bring the product to life. I love a woman confident enough to match prints and bold color combinations. If I could I would dress like this a majority of each week. Every one of her collection inspires me and fills me with happiness. Colors tell your state of mind subconsciously, the brighter the hue the better you feel. Wrap me up in all of these pieces and I would be the happiest girl!  Stella Jean, oh how you inspire my wardrobe!

Selector :Bruiser Brigade

Sooooo . . . sometimes you just have to get hype to finish out the week. . My brother and I  have grown up with this mindset. I wouldn't suggest blasting this at work. . . but maybe on the way to it. :-)  Never a dull moment on Selector .

The Beat In My Heart : Common -The Light

This is one of my favorite love songs in life. His words are so passionate and powerful. . <3

I ain't gon' assault 'em 'cause I probably did it too

A Gothic Romance : Ivory Jar

I'm usually not a fan of the gothic look. That was until I came across London based DIY line Ivory Jar. This label is the perfect balance of beauty and the beast. The super cute site is full of collars ,cuffs, clothes, and crosses.  Ivory Jar's lookbook has inspired me for the night , had to share! Thanks to the ladies in charge Marcelina Amelia and Rebecca Dewinter for bringing out the gothic beauty of 2012 .

She Always Holds Him Down: Michelle Obama

By:Stan Honda/Getty Images
Had to take a moment to pay homage to my first lady, as well as my birthday twin, and her amazing speech as well as outfit. Michelle had all eyes on her in a floral rosy pink and grey Tracy Reese frock with pink pumps. Such a natural beauty, she kept her look simple with her hair down, small earrings and her wedding bands. While I focused on her look, she focused on the American people .

A Photographic Perspective: Nalissa Cuthbert

They say a picture is worth 1000 words. Well what about the person behind the camera? What makes a great photographer? With all these photo-editing apps how does the real talent stand out ? Authenticity can be found through words, perspective and of course photographs. Only a  few in a sea of many fully appreciate the true art of photography and the memories it captures.

Museum Mind: These Pink Lips
