Taking a break from all the fashion shows going on currently, I found myself in the mood for some inspiration from one of my favorite sources, black art. John Holyfield creates artwork which contains emotion, his favorite subject matter being rural life . His pieces convey simple moments found in so many of our lives. His paintings capture the most important memories of life. Perhaps, I am so drawn to his work because he is richly inspired by his grandmothers, two people I also consider central to my development as a young woman. Other influencers of Holyfield's work are music, spirituality and the family household . My family is my strength and I have so many moments I pray I never forget , looking at Holyfield's work helps me keep the picture alive.
