  • The common thread of my features is a vision fueled by inner passion and purpose. It is a journey all to itself to figure out your niche in this life. Once that part is discovered one must create and pursue a path that will lead to ultimate purpose. The admiration I have for those who find it young and make it work is indescribable.

At 23, Sha'velle Davis has pushed herself out of her comfort zone and into a women's apparel line called Bamnbyshavelle. Her pieces are for the trendsetter, who loves her body. Bright stripes, poppin floral prints in neon hues are just a taste of her collection. The vibrant pieces are in part created by Bamn, Sha'velle's artistic alter ego, who shows up when it is time to work .By Any Means Necessary is a lifestyle to Sha'velle, that speaks volumes, so does her collection. Welcome to Bamnville .

HH: Who is Sha'velle? Why did you launch Bamnbyshavelle?
    SD:
I am Sha'velle, a 23 year old black woman. I am first a daughter, a sister, friend, designer, and of all things a lover. I launched BamnByShavelle because I was tired of not pushing myself and not taking my own advice that I gave to my friends and people who look up to me. I had a plan to launch two weeks after my birthday and something inside me just told me to go for it.

HH:BAMN stands for "By Any Means Necessary". How do you use this statement in your life and style?
    SD:
By Any Means Necessary is tattooed on my left wrist in bold font. I read a book in high school, The AutoBiography of Assata Shakur, about how involved she was in the Black panther movement. After that I researched and read a lot on who they were and what they're about. Then I had such a strong love for Malcolm X. How I used this statement in my life, I would say I consider it motivation. It fuels me to never give up when I'm stressed about school, how I will pay for this, how can I accomplish something that seems damn near impossible.

By Any Mean Necessary, I always remember to pray and leave my worries with God because he will always take care of me, and I will continue to praise him. As far as my style, I never realised how much I love black and neutral colors. On a regular day going to school I'm very plain jane, girl next door. I feel like my creations are my alter ego I express her whomever she is through my creativity. When I party or go out with friends I wear my own pieces.
HH: Describe an outfit that captures your style?
    SD:
An outfit that captures my style I would say on my Tomboy days, I am Teyana Taylor in a graphic tank, sweats/leggings and some jordans. When I'm dolled up I'm in a one of a kind BamnByShavelle creation. That would be something that is bright and form fitting with a chunky or wedge heel.

HH:Your silhouettes are super sexy and fun. What inspires your designs?
SD: What inspires me and my designs is Art. Any form of art; visual, photography, paintings, poetry, music, and films. I get inspired by everything. I listen to music, close my eyes, and I have a design in mind or I see someone walking down the street and I like their outfit, but I would recreate it or style it differently.

HH: Who would you love to see wearing your line ?
    SD:
I would love to see Rihanna, Teyana Taylor, Katy Perry, Iggy Azelea, Jhene Aiko, Vashtie, Rita Ora, Nicki Minaj, and many more.

HH: Aside from BAMN, name a few of your favorite fall trends.
    SD:
Aside from BAMN a few of my favorite designers that are my friends would be Duckie of Confetti and Laquan Smith. I love Jeremy Scott, Alexander Wang, and Serkan Sarier's collection Brood. I really love it!

HH: Where can we shop your collection and follow you?
    SD:
You can shop my collection at www.bamnbyshavelle.bigcartel.com. I have a Facebook fan page www.facebook.com/bamnbyshavelle as well as instagram @bamnbyshavelle and my personal page @hellvelle email bamnbyshavelle@gmail.com
