Gift Giving:Indie Christmas Part 2

This time next week it will be Christmas eve.

Bring It Back: Lois London in Rome

I don't know if I expressed the depth of my love for Lois London initially.

Lookbook Love : Cushnie et Ochs Resort 13

Cushnie et Ochs resort 2013 collection. Clean lines, deep cuts and leather contrasts take my breath away when looking at all these options. I am loving the sophisticated that is given when between the seams of these delicate designs. I have so many favorites I can't talk about one, anyone else having that issue?.

Lakme Fashion Week Fav: Ryndia

During Lakme Fashion Week designer Daniel Syiem's ETHNIC Fashion House revealed his 2013 resort collection 'Ryndia' to the world . Textiles of Meghalaya were credited as the backbone of the show, ivory and begie pieces blended together looked super clean and comfortable. The fabric choice was rich in culture and texture , which can be seen from a distance. Syiem placed emphasis on using hand woven fabric from Bhoi district in Meghalaya. His presentation is example to India's North-Eastern's rich culture,  well illustrated.

Istanbul Fashion Week Fav: Studio Kaprol

Happy first day of spring! I know Fall is super far away but Istanbul's fashion week Fall/Winter 13/14 shows have me sort of excited. Couldn't be happier to have stumbled upon Turkish designer Arzu Kaprol.

NYFW FAVS: Rachel Roy Fall 13

Catching up on some  NYFW shows tonight , Rachel Roy's presentation was genius ! Loving the concept of her digital catwalk allowing her to reach out to a broader fan-base than in past seasons. The collection was perfect for the girl on the go that has fun with prints and and ornate accessories. One could wear the look just as the models are or mix and match pieces.  A realistic and sophisticated show fit for a lady of class .

NYFW Favs: ThreeASFOUR Fall 2013

Round of applause for ThreeASFOUR's Fall 2013 show . I am  impressed by their use of  angles and stones in the 14- look collection. Cosmic enchantment  best illustrates the theme seen to me in the presentation. Models strutted futuristic  silhouettes infused with  organic glass like statements , details that one's eye must linger  on for a few  extra minutes. Dramatic headpieces  gave a gothic feel combined with the matte teal colored lips seen . ThreeASFOUR is the label you wear , when you want to be remembered for what you wore. The little black number with cutouts across the chest and  gems cascading down the front ( seen right below ). . puts every black dress I have ever own to shame. I need it .

Montreal Fashion Week Fav: Ralph Leroy

Monday, February 4th, kicked off Montreal's 24th fashion week. Sometimes I find shows becoming slightly mundane , all taking a rather traditional approach. Not Ralph Leroy , and that is why I adore his presentation ! He designed a  collection of well cut suits for men and women as well as  suede and leather day wear. His finale was brilliant  with a European vs Haitian dance-off. The beauty of the two dance forms was quite the show closer.

Ultimate Underground Playhouse: LA RAP

I'm on a 'custom made' wave this week. Monday's inspiration usually sets the tone for my week, so I give you LA RAP, an infusion of bold neon colors, abstract prints, graffiti and badass models. These custom creations push normal fashion boundaries; I love it . The product is hot, and the lookbook is Fire! LA Rap brings back the 90's staples we all wore at some point (platform sneakers, pullover hoodie dresses, platform flip flops, etc) and have put their own RAP touch on it. I have to get the 1991 set into my closet, and well, that will probably just be the beginning for me. LA RAP's site is as original as the pieces sold. Check out the website and fall in love with all their funkiness.

New Year , New Release: No Hassle CO.

I am a Jersey girl, born and raised. I love the hustle and bustle of the surrounding cities and the grind I see in so many eyes on a daily basis. In a day and age when society sees my generation as doomed, I see something different. I went to college in North Carolina which provided me first with culture shock, then a slight depression, which gradually grew into sincere appreciation for the South. Over time North Carolina happily surprised me with its creative community and their style subculture. Take for example, Carl Anthony and No Hassle Co.

The K.R.T. Legacy: Kings That Inspire Queens

November 2010, a legacy was created. A Philly based King, Curran Swint,  had a vision of fashion infused with positivity. Kings Rule Together, (K.R.T.), was founded on the idea of creating a culture of positive change and unity rather than adverse stereotypes. The line offers tees, hoodies, tanks, and accessories that all push the powerful message to have high standards, respect for others,  and a personal understanding that we all are Kings and Queens. A message I live by everyday, I support this new wave of fashion. His pieces are timeless.  If you are a King, you'll be a King until you die.  The same  goes for  Queens. Show the standard you hold yourself too; support the K.R.T legacy. Curran Swint inspires me from a distance. His message is solid, his clothing uplifting. We could all learn something from this man. You will definitely see me showing my support in a Queens inspired King's hoodie in the near future. Be blessed and and well dressed.

TBX$: Think Big Success $$

Who should rock TBX$? “Anyone that wants to be successful, which should be damn near EVERYBODY! It’s fly shit, why not?”-Desi Henry. With a demographic for the successful, TBX$ line was born. Desi Henry, a Bronx native, launched his luxury street wear brand with a vision of creating his own lane in the fashion industry. The young man is confident, fly, and building a solid foundation for his personal success. Keep an eye out for his upcoming collection release, “Patternz”, and future collaborations. It’s all about Thinking Big Success.

PFW FAVS: Manish Arora

I am so impressed with Mumbai-born Manish Arora. His 2013 collection shown during Paris Fashion week was stunning. As I am one for body adornments in rich metals and shapes, his collection was one I spent more than a few minutes reviewing. Inspiration for the show was derived from native Indian dress and jewelry. With more holidays and parties around the corner, festive looks are dancing around my head. Manish Arora's use of psychedelic patterns, rich textures, and bold accents have given me life for the week .

Legends At Our Craft: Pink Dolphin Holiday '12

Here lately, I want to show my edgier men and women some love. Cali is doing its thing in the indie apparel market right now. The west coast aesthetic is spreading like wildfire, but to keep it authentic, one has to go to the original source of inspiration. Pink Dolphin was created by three self proclaimed legends of their craft  that  have been taking over the streets with their exclusive apparel. Bred in the Los Angeles area with a mission to remain exclusive, Pink Dolphin only releases a limited number of tees, hoodies, tanks, and hats each season. The legends behind the label are doing their thing and growing their line at great speed. Check out the video for the hoilday '12 look book, collection to be released November 16. The new year is right around the corner.  Start making that list.

Dope, Young, and Stylish : NC STEEZ

Denim, spikes, print, and leather when added to any fabric make for crazy creation potential. Visual impact is always a bonus when I peep someone's style. Followed by, ‘I wish I had something like that’. For those of you who find yourself in a similar predicament, I’ve found where you go to create your own (Fill in Blank)! Durham based Indie label STEEZ is creating pieces exclusive to your personal aesthetic. Joint owners Kabyn Pearson and Xavier Evans are styling edgy risk takers looking for something different than the rest. Inspired by the latest sneakers and fashion to coincide, they are deading the SWAG era and creating a new STEEZ.

LA Vibes: Grand Come Up

I'm on a mission for graphic tees and hoodies for my chill days. I think we can all agree, the colder it gets the more layers needed, so why not throw on something with character. Grand Come Up has a great selection of cool tees great for layering under sweaters, hoodies or blazers. Unfortunately ladies, we don't have the biggest selection as of now, but I would love to add the two pullovers and crop tops to my collection. Grand Come Up is an upcoming skateboard/street-wear brand out of LA. Launched in February of this this year, the brand / online boutique carries only the best from elite brands such as OBEY, Crooks and Castles, and Primitive. A good tee is always necessary in one's wardrobe.

Tokyo FW Favs: Nitz Scheider

I love the camo print combo shown in Nitz Scheider's collection. The super cute  S/S 2013 collection inspired me this morning. What are we thinking ?

"The base for the new brand “NITZ SCHENIDER” is strategically located in Meiji Street, Harajuku in Tokyo, targeting specifically the fashionable people at the middle zone between Shibuya and Harajuku. The brand has been inspired by and conceived as a stark contrast to the chaotic noise of the city. By fusing various kinds of material, colours, and styles, the brand is an unique style of its own. Casual and basic elements are added in the designs, some are added with touch of “playfulness” that is suitable for many scenes of your life."

PRINT PARTY : Stella Jean

Stella Jean is one of my favorite brands. Her prints choices, styling and gorgeous models always bring the product to life. I love a woman confident enough to match prints and bold color combinations. If I could I would dress like this a majority of each week. Every one of her collection inspires me and fills me with happiness. Colors tell your state of mind subconsciously, the brighter the hue the better you feel. Wrap me up in all of these pieces and I would be the happiest girl!  Stella Jean, oh how you inspire my wardrobe!

Tokyo FW Favs: Fur Fur

"At the root of design lies
A fondness for that which is incomplete or fleeting
Elegance within tattered and crooked clothing
Clothes-making with emotion
A sense of naturalness
A desire to continue conveying this feeling through the culture of fashion"

Babes Only :Bamnbyshavelle

The common thread of my features is a vision fueled by inner passion and purpose. It is a journey all to itself to figure out your niche in this life. Once that part is discovered one must create and pursue a path that will lead to ultimate purpose. The admiration I have for those who find it young and make it work is indescribable.
