Durham based Indie label STEEZ is creating pieces exclusive to your personal aesthetic. Joint owners Kabyn Pearson and Xavier Evans are styling edgy risk takers looking for something different than the rest. Inspired by the latest sneakers and fashion to coincide, they are deading the SWAG era and creating a new STEEZ.
HH:Tell us about your brand's aesthetic
X:The aesthetic of our line is that it edgy and different! We combine spikes, animal print, leathers an anything else we can get our hands on to make our on lane in the fashion world.
Kabe: The warm feeling that it gives your eyes when you see it and the feeling it gives your confidence when you wear it is beauty inside it self!
HH: Who is the STEEZ client ?
X: The market that we are trying to target are the trendy, risk takers and edgy individuals who dare to be different an stand outs. Our line Steez is ment to attract attention and let those individual's express themselves and there confidence through our clothing.
Kabe: Right now with the boost in the sneaker community it causes for a much needed boost in fashion and design. A lot of individuals look for exclusive pieces to help style with their sneakers. This line incorporates expressions as well as style .
HH: How do you feel about today's fashion?
X: Lol ... (( both of us look at each other laugh and shake or heads )) Me and Kabyn talk about this subject every other day, fashion is changing so much but it's driven by a specific min set that as long as I buy a particular name brand or spend a certain amount of money of clothes then in considered cool or as we call it back home " I'm on " ! But when they get these brands and go to the club or any public outting everyone looks the same. So we stress individuality, we live by it. Fitting in never leaves a lasting impression like a slap in the fast by a dope item of clothing does when you walk in the room.
Kabe: We do it for the dope, young and stylish ! Period !
HH:What do you want STEEZ to be known for in the long run ?
Kabe: I want it to be known for its lasting impressions it gives your mind and taste buds when you see it. Kinda like that one meal you look forward to on thanksgiving when you know grandma gone cook your favorite pie!
HH:Your both sneaker heads, where do you go to stay on top of the newest editions ?
Xavier: Honestly ... Totally honest .. I get majority of my item from my Brutha Kabe ! (( daps up each other, and yells we all we got !! Lol )) Hahaha he the plug when it comes to sneakers and he holds me down when Ever he can. But outside of that I get a lot o other sneakers from House Of Hoops in Hanes Mall in Winston Salem NC were Pat and Tiffany hold me down on my exclusive pick ups !
Kabe: (( lol )) I been plugged into the sneaker community for as long as I can remember! I remember when my mom would let me skip school to go and get Jordan's in the middle of the week just so I could be the first ones with them by lunch time at school! But I get my pick ups from a few places.. Footaction and footlocker in Four Seasons Mall in Greensboro NC were Derrick and Terry hold me down and of course House of Hoops in Winston as well!
