She has the sweetest spirit and always the baddest lip color. I'll introduce her as Amber, although I and many others know her lovingly as 'Grannie'. You will love her for her beauty knowledge. My chat with Amber revealed skin is back in and why every woman should be in love with hers.
Everything starts at the foundation, so Ms. Harper throws in a beauty DIY, great for an end of the week pamper session. See why I love her? You're going to too, and if you are in the area, you'll probably want to check her out. This queen has beauty shining from the inside and out. It makes sense, she's a master M.U.A.(Make Up Artist).
HH:When did you know makeup would be apart of your future ? What do you love most about being a MUA?
AH:In my mind I still am on the track to being a sex therapist. Makeup almost fell into my lap. I was and still get nervous about makeup. I've learned soooo much since becoming a professional makeup artist and not just playing in makeup. I love being able to offer women a service that makes them feel powerful & sexy. When they see the finished result its like this other woman wakes up inside them that they forgot about. We talk about everything from their job to they mama. I love that!
HH: What are your favorite SS13 beauty trends ? How would you suggest one create a more subtle version for the job/day ?
AH:Skin skin skin!! Skin is coming back into style! We've all gotten caught up in the lashes, crazy dramatic brows, and all the out there colors. This spring/summer we'll see skin become the point of focus. With washes of color or one intense color on the face. Every woman/man should become more connected with skin. Skin should look hydrated, healthy! That will help all create their everyday look. On that you can build statement looks. Such as dramatic lashes and a bold lip or soft brows and creamy lips. The everyday look varies from person to person. My advice is to make your look relatable but importantly put your signature on your face. My signature is a booming lip.
HH: Lets talk about brushes , which ones are most important and why ?
AH:Every brush is important but when trying to decide which to invest in I always recommend face brushes. Personally I love MACs 130 brush. There other great brands out there as well. Another way to decide on brushes is what part of your face is your favorite. Cheeks, eyes, lips? Build those brushes first then work to the others.
HH: You create beauty through makeup, what inspires you when working on a client ?
AH:When I work with my clients I get comfortable with them. Everyone becomes my favorite cousin or sister in my chair. Then I decide what I love about this persons face and then I ask them what style they are going for. I want to get a sense or their confidence level & comfort zone. You'll be surprised by the responses I get. By the end of the experience I've guided them to try something new but more importantly something that they are satisfied with.
HH: Favorite at home DIY beauty treatment ?
AH:Raw honey & cinnamon face masks! I swear by these! They help pull bacteria out of your skin. Try this two week regimen. Mix honey& cinnamon rub onto a slightly damp face. Allow to sit for up to one hour each day. Better skin is coming your way. Follow up with a great moisturizer.
HH: Can you share some advice with the women learning the ropes of everyday makeup , what would you say are the basics tools and products one should have in her beauty bag?
AH:Basic tools include brushes, mascara, gloss or lipstick, your everyday eye, and the perfect foundation if needed, concealer if needed, maybe even a blush. This is where I start everyone who comes to see me at my place of work.
HH: Would you like to add anything else ?
AH:Be you!
HH: Where can we follow you Ms. Harper ?
AH:My email is alynneharp@gmail.com. My personal Instagram is @erbodyluhgrannie (there's a story to this! Lol
