This weekend's to do list included - making inventory for and vending at my first craft bazaar.
I came across a flyer two weeks ago that my apartment complex would be holding a bazaar and thought it was a sign to be a part of it for two reasons: 1.To get my feet wet vending my products, and 2. To see what type of clientele are attracted to my table. While updating my business plan I thought it would be important to see if my actual clients match my ideal ones. I'm happy to report they did to a T!
There was so much to think about: How will I merchandise my table? Which soaps will I sell? How much product should I bring for the allotted time and what will my sales pitch be? I broke down my task list into different days so I could dedicate my full focus on different areas for at least a day. I needed price lists, packaging, a book keeping system, a list for potential email clients, signage, and to be calm. Check out below what it looks like trying to put together your first vending opportunity - with no prior experience. I have enjoyed the spontaneity and risk involved. Just as I hoped it pushed me to JUST START my business, as I tend to over think . . and then shy away from opportunities like this. I think this was the perfect way to soft launch my natural skincare line as well as celebrate Haute Hemisphere's 2nd birthday!
For curious minds, I officially launched my handmade product line, Taila.Made, Sunday Aug 24th- Haute Hemisphere's 2nd birthday! While I build the official website interested parties are able to purchase my soaps via email at adoretaila.made@gmail.com. I will post my creations to IG along with prices and I will continue to blog about my business as it grows and develops. As I mentioned in the debut Soap Stylist Stories post, I am always looking for soap friends, mentors, and collaborations for both Taila.Made and Haute Hemisphere. I have really fallen into my passion and can't wait to share my journey with you, my beloved readers/ creative family. In my mind Saturday truly began my journey as a Soap Stylist. The feelings I experienced while vending my personal creations to help aid clients with cleansing and moisturizing their various skin types gave me such joy.
Shout out to the world's best boyfriend for hanging with me the whole time! Always pushing me to be my best. I learned a lot over the past weekend, made some awesome sales as well as met awesome new creative friends like Joshua Torrito. I'm looking forward to participating in more events like Saturday's craft bazaar, as well as starting my training in natural skincare formulation from the School of Natural Skincare. I have lots to learn, because I intend to help every hand, arm, leg , face and skin surface needing a little extra TLC. I woke up Sunday and realized - I really am a business owner. Best feeling ever.
Creativeprenuers, how did you launch your beauty/fashion business? Do you remember how you prepared for your first vending opportunity? I would love to hear about it below.
