FW FAVS: Africa Fashion Week London 2013 Recap
FW Favorites:Miami Swim Week
Monday was the last day of Miami Swim Week . With that being said, I figure why not channel my inner beach gyspy. Below are a handful of my favorite designers from this year's shows, Mara Hoffman, took the cake as my favorite. Everything about her 2014 collection floated my boat. Reviewing all these shows has me ready to find some sand, a tall drink and a cute suit to show my skin off in. What swimwear designers are you loving this season?
Moral, Jaw, and Panty Dropping(For The Boys): Basitan P
" Bastian P, based in Los Angeles, California, adds a certain spice to your appearance that will result in moral, jaw, and panty dropping.(-Bastian P homepage)"Lets be real with a intorductory sentence such as that one, how could you not want to be apart of this brand ? South Africa Fashion Week: Favorite Shows PT 1
Copenhagen FW Favs: Wood Wood
This week, my heart is in Copenhagen, Denmark. Danish fashion is very interesting to me, I love the merging of elegance and masculine aesthetics seen in a few shows.
Every February and August, Copenhagen gets done up to the T and celebrates the city's fashion and beauty. Wood Wood's show was my favorite. It could be summed up as the refined hipster. Remember the cool kids we all knew in school, who could wear anything and make it fly. Now add about four years, and pretend they moved to Copenhagen. They would be definitely be wearing Wood Wood.
Best To Buddle Up: Yokoo Scarves and Accessories
So this week, weather wise, it's been brutal. I moved back to Jersey the 1st of the year, and already I am missing North Carolina's warmer temperatures. While I am not a fan of below 20 degree temperatures, this is prime outerwear accessories season. Get bundled up in style instead of dying a little on the inside every-time you walk outside your home. Yokoo Scarves and Accessories are essential for conditions such as these. Why you may ask? Yokoo Gibbran designs scarves reminiscent of art. Interesting shapes, warm colors and thick knits are all elements seen in her pieces. Thank goodness for Etsy, otherwise I would have never stumbled upon her store! Check her out. We have a few more months with Jack Frost; might as well wrap up tight in a Yokoo scarf to keep him from biting at your nose!
"Jill Of All Trades": Jamilla Okubo
Thanks to Twitter, I found a Jill of creative trades! Jamilla Okubo, a D.C. native, left her city to study her crafts in the Mecca of creativity - NYC. At 19, she is a self proclaimed artist, designer, breakdancer, and aspiring textile designer. Her childhood in D.C. exposed her to mural painting, which was just the beginning for her artistic imagination. Her work is fun, comes in many shapes and sizes, and is always authentic to her integrated design vision. So everyone meet Miss Okubo, an artist that must be added to one's collection.
Inspired By India : Nor Black Nor White
I have been super enthralled with all things India here lately. I find myself searching through editorials, fashion week galleries, and designers' sites just to catch a glimpse of the culture's beauty, translated in fabrics and accessories. Tonight's creative escapade led me to Nor Black Nor White, a line launched by duo Amrit Kumar and Mirga Kapadiya. Their designs are fun, colorful, and infuse art and the ancient Indian culture. Nor Black Nor White is one of my new favorite brands. Please take a second to check out their super cute site. Bet they will become one of your fav's too!
Tokyo FW Favs: Shiroma 12/13 A/W
Sooo. . it's fashion week in Tokyo! Shows started October 13th and will continue through the 21st. What I have seen so far has been pretty fantastic: lots of draping, embellished sleeves, and printed silks. The Shiroma collection is beautiful, lots of flowing floral silhouettes and asymmetrical cuts. Lightweight fabrics dance effortlessly on the models as they work the catwalk. Had to share, enjoy!
